Where’s The Snow?

Thanks Old Man Winter – You Ruined My Ski Trip

Well, I had planned to take two trips to Lake Tahoe this year. One trip is coming up in a few months for some golf and swimming, but the first was going to be a ski trip. While Tahoe did get a fair amount of snow earlier in the year, it really died down late this winter, to the point where I ended up not going.

I don’t get it. You picture Lake Tahoe, and you picture a ton of snow and skiing to be had by everyone right? Well, this year the winter up there simply sucked. I did find a cool video below though that showed that at least some snowfall happened and it sure looks like people enjoyed it.

Oh well. I guess I’ll have to get up there this summer and enjoy the sun. Now that I think about it I’m really sick of summertime anyway, and I’m ready to sweat!

It’s Almost Summer!

It’s Almost Summer – Fun, Here I Come!

I love the summertime. The winter is OK too, but after a few weeks I get really tired of being cold. So this is the time of the year when it’s going to be time for me to get away from it all and enjoy the sunshine, and not the people.

I’ve decided that I’m going to check out Lake Tahoe again this year. I went a few years back and had a really good time, so I couldn’t see a reason to not go again. I’ve decided on staying at South Lake, and also decided that I have to spend less money than I did last trip.

When I was looking for some Lake Tahoe vacation rentals to stay in I ended up finding a place in a perfect spot. I wanted to brink my dog Piper, and so I needed a place that was insanely close to the beach and also allowed pets. I found the perfect place too, and guess what?

It’s going to be $240 cheaper than staying in one of the popular hotels would’ve been. The only thing is I’ll have to skip eating dinner in restaurants for eating at the rental, but I have no problem with that. I’ve grown tired of chicken fingers anyway 🙂

Some of the Tahoe Rentals that I was looking at were awesome, but not on the beach but after looking around a bit I found a great place. So while I’m there I have to go aboard the MS Dixie this time (I skipped it last time).

The MS Dixie is a glass bottom boat that tours the lake and serves you food and drinks. It may not sound too fun, but to me it looks great. I love the water and it just sounds relaxing. My Vacation Experience

Last year my girlfriend and I were burned out from the city, so we decided to take a long weekend away from our lame jobs.

 

We decided to head over to Lake Tahoe for a few days of lying on the beach and relaxing. I had been to Tahoe before but Jennie had not, so we headed over for the 2 hour trip and looked forward to getting away.

 

It was a great trip too. There is so much fun stuff to do there if you like the outdoors it’s not even funny. Even if you aren’t the biggest fan of nature, you can’t help but love going to Tahoe and just kicking your feet in the sand for a while.

 

The water in the lake is insanely clear. I mean, you can pretty much see the bottom no matter how deep it is. If you drive around the lake, there are times when you are pretty high above, and you can see the bottom for a ways out there.

 

The best part was where we stayed though. We were going to do the hotel thing, but I hate hotels for a few reasons. First, they just suck. Second, they stink and they are crowded. On top of that, you have to eat in restaurants and a weekend can cost a thousand bucks when you’re all done.

 

So I did something better. I looked around for lake tahoe vacation rental homes and found a pretty sweet deal on a bad-ass place. It was loaded with furniture, a nice TV and of course a full kitchen. All we had to do was go to the store a few times and we were all set.

 

There were lots of Lake Tahoe cabins to choose from for our trip, but we ended up going with something right in town that was ON the beach. The best part was that whenever we were hungry all we had to do was make something to eat.

 

On our next trip anywhere, we are thinking of going back, but this time we want to do it in the winter time. Even though I like swimming more than skiing, I want to see what all the fuss is about and what people do when they are snowed in.
